Route - Western Circle 1

Usually, together with the client, we choose the route suitable for him, because the wishes of the clients are different. But in this description, I will try to describe the standard route.

So, the departure time is either 8 or 9 in the morning from the hotel or apartments where you have stayed and we drive to the Teide volcano along the southern slope along the mountain serpentine.

On the way we drive through the highest city in Spain - Vilaflor, It is located 1400 m above the ocean level. Leaving the city, we stop at the largest pine tree in the Canary Islands - Pino Gordo, its height is 42 m, diameter 3 m, and circumference 9 m.

We enter the Teide National Park. At this time of the day (in the morning) there are still few tourists, and we can feel like we are on the moon or on Mars - 2300 m above sea level. Let's look at natural stone wonders - rocks "Dieva pirts", "Organ", etc.

After viewing the most notable places in the Teide caldera, we turn right. The whole area resembles a Martian landscape. We drive to El Portillo, where the road forks in two directions. We choose to the left.
We descend along the serpentine from the mountain peaks in the north-west of the island. We will drive through majestic Canarian pine forests. On the way there are several very beautiful places - miradori. For example, "stone flower" is really a natural wonder, a rock split really looks like a flower ten meters in diameter.
Passing through a forest of laurel-heather trees, we continue through Orotava (also one of the historic cities of Tenerife), we descend to the town of Icod de los Vinos, and stop at the oldest dragon tree in the Canary Islands (Drago milanario).
* For an additional fee, before going to Icod de los Vinos, we can walk along a beautiful path along the ocean to the Mirador Gordejuela - where the "medieval castle ruins" seem to be floating on a cliff above the ocean.
Next, we go to the city of Garachico, which 300 years ago was almost swallowed by lava from the erupting volcano Teide. There we can swim in the natural lava pools and have lunch (either in the restaurant or takeaway).
Then, near the town of Buenovista del Norte, we turn along the "steepest" serpentine on the island - the road to Santiago del Teide, along the Maska gorge, there are stunning views - this canyon is considered to be the second most beautiful in the world after the Grand Canyon in the USA.
If time permits (or for an additional fee), after Santiago del Teide we turn to the black sand beach of La Arena (included in the UNESCO natural heritage list as the beach with the blackest sand in the world) and look at the steep cliffs of Los Gigantes.

The planned duration of the excursion is about 8 hours.
